Dear Sir,

On the basis of the paragraph 6 of EIB document "Rules on Public Access to Documents", and the document "Public Access to Information", we would like to request for information regarding the EIB possible involvement in the project for construction of the National Center for Waste Treatment in the region of Gledachevo, Bulgaria.

Half a year ago we learned that the EIB is interested in providing loan for the project. In December 2003 the EIB appears as potential funding source for the project in the Government's update on the National Development Strategy for the Environment.

Therefore we would like to ask:

• At what stage of the project appraisal is EIB in regards to the project for construction of the National Center for Hazardous Waste Treatment?
• When the EIB plan to take a decision about the loan approval?
• Will the EIB appraisal team would like to meet with the affected people and concerned NGOs before any decision will be taken, taking to the account that the project met large public opposition two year ago (more than 4 000 signatures from local people against the project was collected)?
