Kozloduy 7-8 NPP with Westinghouse following in the footsteps of the corrupt Belene NPP project with Rosatom

The Kozloduy 7-8 project is being developed in violation of Bulgarian and European legislation.

No tender for the selection of technology, no economic analysis of the need for a new nuclear power plant, no final price and deadline for implementation.

For several years, politicians and ministers who accidentally came to power for a few months have been conducting “negotiations”, signing agreements and memorandums for a project that would cost Bulgarian taxpayers 25-30 billion euros. (In the USA, the construction of 2 Westinghouse reactors cost $35 billion and the price at which they produce electricity is above the market price).

Once again, Bulgarian politicians do not resist political pressure from a “great power” and ignore the public interest in order to serve foreign interests.

In the case of the Belene NPP, they bowed to pressure from Russia, now with the Kozloduy 7-8 project they do not resist quite harsh pressure from the USA. They condemn the country to a huge, long-term debt for a project that has no chance of being implemented and operating under market conditions in 10-15 years.
